It's no surprise then that the scene in Denver is a bit more on the hippie side than other major cities.

Live music here is catered to the jamband scene and it isn't uncommon to find bars completely decorated with Grateful Dead paraphernalia. But if patchoulli oil and lava lamps aren't what you're looking for, there are venues in Denver to satiate any taste.

In Denver's Golden Triangle, located around Broadway Street, there are lots of clubs spinning everything from salsa to techno.

Downtown and lower downtown, called Lodo by locals, is the spot for beer connoisseurs. There are lots of breweries and sports bars with numerous taps of hand-made beers available. There are also Irish and British pubs, as well as a few dance clubs and karaoke bars. Although there are a few spots in downtown that require some sort of formal wear, most of Denver's nightspots are, like the city itself, very relaxed - must be something about the air up there. [less]
