No shirt, no shoes - no problem. Nightlife in
Honolulu, HI, like any other time of the day here, is
very laid back. Clubs and bars are abundant and cater
to everyone from the Don Ho-loving retiree crowd to
the up-all-night rave scene. But even with the wide
variety of age groups and mixture of tourists,
travelers and locals, people in Honolulu share one
common thread - they are all here for a good time.

Besides the obvious tourist attractions of native
Hawaiian culture like luaus and hula dances,
Honolulu's entertainment scene also serves up a plenty
large dose of live music. And the music of choice in
Honolulu is reggae. Local and international reggae
acts dominate the entertainment calendars and the
shows are always great places to meet friendly locals.
Honolulu nightclubs offer a mix of Top 40, techno and
house music and, of course, reggae and are different
from mainland clubs. You won't find expensive suits or
dress shoes here. Flip-flops and shorts and other
casual dress is the norm here, even for the rich and
famous.
Another favorite pastime in Honolulu, brought over to
the islands by the Japanese, is karaoke. Tourists and
locals, Japanese and Americans alike try their pipes
on classics and standards while swilling down Blue
Hawaiians and Mai Tais.
If the warm tropical weather and breath-taking sunsets
get you too mellow to go dance or sing, there are
still plenty of quiet, open-aired beach bars with
friendly bartenders to help you relax - not that that
is too difficult, it is Hawaii after all.
